Issue 006 -Spotlight Featuring Emerys.Demin.Designs
Emerys Denim Designs is a one-woman shop run by Diana Briceno in Houston, Texas! In August of 2019, Diana turned her "what if" into a successful denim shop with a loyal cult following! She prides herself on her unique. one-of-a kind custom pieces and designs. This shop is especially unique because the majority of the denim is thrifted and upcycled into modern styles that maintain a vintage flare.
More than anything, Diana is most noted for turning thrifted denim into wearable art. This wearable art is where the true difference lies between Emerys Denim Designs and other run-of- the-mill denim shops.
For Diana, opening her shop allowed her the opportunity to share her treasured creative outlet with others. Her drive to share her passion became the number one motivator behind Emerys Denim Designs. Diana stated, "I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else in another field that didn't involve me hunting for the right denim to transform." Diana hopes to inspire others to follow their passion too. She especially wants her daughter, Emery, to see that "if you are great at something, regardless of how insignificant it may seem to others, just got for it."
Interview What is your favorite food?
Hands down! Seafood! Don't even get me started on crabcakes!
You woke up tomorrow morning and a million dollars was deposited into your account, and the bank said to keep it. What would you do?
I would travel to my dream destinations, Greece and Italy!
If a genie could grant you three wishes, what would they be?1
. Thrift all over the world
2. Build the house of my dreams, and make sure it has the space that I so desperately need for my shop!
3. Donate/help those less fortunate in other countries
What is your favorite thing about running your shop?
One of the main fun parts of owning my shop, without a doubt, would be seeing the children wearing a piece that took hours and days to complete.
Least favorite? The panic mode that hits before every drop. It will never go away,but I wouldn't change it for the world!
