“Okay, I love a good shredded classic wrap. It’s my fave. I can’t lie! Oversize it. Twice. ” -Alex Golden, Owner

If you haven’t heard of Golden Bow Co. you definitely need to check out their Facebook VIP group and set a reminder for the next drop! Her bows are seriously amazing. Owner, Alex Golden, has been creating original, extravagant bows only since mid-2021 and her group is steadily growing as more and more people are exposed to her incredible styles.

Golden Bow Co. offers made-to-order bows during preorder drops every Friday as well as the occasional ready-to-ship, one-of-a-kind mini sale exclusive to her VIP members. The bows are mainly handmade although she also has an option on her site for upcycled pieces as well. The styles of bows offered range from headwraps, piggies, and topknots to bows with add-ons that make them true GBC-style bows. She strives to be unique in her creations by offering people very detailed and dramatic bows for their babes.

The shop is centered around the goal of being inclusive to all babes. Alex

opened the shop after a friend in the small shop community, who is a

woman of color, was silenced when speaking about issues sensitive to her

race. As you can imagine, this issue gave rise to even more problems –

Others were made to feel oppressed when speaking about similar issues.

This just didn’t sit right with Alex. She started brainstorming for a real

solution. She has always had a passion for advocating for human rights, as

well as a passion for fashion. She saw the need and stepped up to the plate.

She successfully combined her two passions with her shop by creating a

safe place for all. Moms and babes will never feel oppressed due to race, sexual orientation, etc. in the Golden Bow Co. group. Alex aimed to represent this in her logo with the dripping bows showing different skin color variations. The rainbow writing also shows her support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

When asked what she’s hoping to achieve with her shop, Alex said, “Every day, I see my hopes and dreams grow and grow. Women and babes of all diverse groups join our group and feel comfortable and welcome. I am delivering unique pieces to them. I have a range of pieces and a range of prices. You can add on anything from a single rhinestone to a row of spikes. We are truly accommodating so many styles and I am so here for it! I fall more in love with my group every single day, and I am so blessed to have it.” You can see her passion and joy in each and every bow she creates.

Alex finds not only finds inspiration in the fabric store while shipping, but also from her daughter. Fabric shopping is a favorite pastime for her and she loves trying new styles on her model girl, Ella-Rae. The unique styles and incredible attention to detail are the two main things that set Golden Bow Co. apart from other shops. Tying bows is the smallest part of running a bow shop for Alex. She spends the majority of her time pairing unique patterns, finding the perfect placement

for each tiny rhinestone, and putting each layer of fabric in perfect alignment. These time-consuming details are what makes each Golden Bow Co. bow so very special.

What keeps Alex working hard on these amazing bows? She loves, more than anything, seeing how excited her customers get when they receive their pieces, how amazing each babe looks giving their own personality to her bows, and how excited people get about new pieces she has in the works. Alex finds joy in “pattern mixing, wrap-around bling, rose gold spikes, [and] new blades on [her] rotary cutter.” – a true artist’s list of joys. She especially enjoys making “shredded classic wraps, oversized twice.” If you don’t know what that means you need to join her VIP and see all the badass babes rocking their Golden Bow Co. bows!

1. Are you more of a hunter or a gatherer? Oh, I’m a hunter. “Make it look pretty, but train it to kill”. This is how we live. I’m pretty aggressive and assertive. But I guess you could say I’m a gatherer of fabric haha

2. You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why? Gunmetal shimmer

3. We finish the interview and you step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do? I would call you and ask if you wanted to take a vacation and we can start when we get back!

4.What do you think about when you’re alone in your car? How do I turn the explicit version back on my Pandora

5. What’s your favorite ’90s jam? Ouch. This is tough. I can’t do it. There are too many vibes. Say my name. No Diggity. Genie in a Bottle. Friends in low places. Unbreak my heart. I was born in 87. The 90s live in my soul. 6. If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why? A leopard because everyone wants to wear my skin. Bad ass and beautiful. I’m weird.

7. What was the last gift you gave someone? Monies

8. What were you like in high school? I don’t really like high school me. I was mean.

9. What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it? I’ve been watching In the Dark on Netflix. I watched it because it’s about a blind woman. Many of you may not know this but I have a visual impairment from my strokes and am partially blind.

10. Any advice for your previous boss? Yes. Be kinder to your employees.

11. Tell me something about your last job, other than money, that would have inspired you to keep working there. The children, hands down. I was a teacher.

12. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently? So the funniest thing I can think of off the top of my head is the other day when taking rep photos, I told my daughter she could NOT take a wad of play dough outside with her for pictures. Fast forward...we were taking pictures and she was sooo cooperative doing everything I asked her to do. It was awesome. We’ll come to find out, she was hiding a wad of play dough behind her back the entire time! And in lots of the pics she had one hand behind her back or a little wad of play dough is peeping out

13. What is your dream job? What I’m doing right now.

14. What inspires you? Hard working women! I know a lot of them in the small shop world!

15. What’s your food/drink guilty pleasure? When I work, I drink Sun-Drop (if you know, you know, and eat peanut butter pretzels)

16. What are you known for? Being bold.

17. What do you work toward in your free time? Self care!! It’s so important!

18. What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn without asking this question? I’m a 34

year old single mother of two! My son is 14!

19. How would you rate your memory? 0/10

20. If you woke up and had 2,000 unread emails and could only answer 300 of them, how would you choose

which ones to answer? I feel like I do this everyday anyway because of promotional emails and spam lol so I just sort them out that way lol

21. What pizza topping best represents you? I’m definitely some sort of pepper.

22. Describe the color Green to somebody who is blind. It looks like mint tastes. It’s a cool color. It’s fresh. 23. If you were to get rid of one state in the U.S., which would it be and why? Lol, I gotta get rid of a whole state? I told you I include everyone. I can’t be abolishing a whole state.

24. What is your favorite tv show to watch when you’re alone with the remote? Shameless!!!

25. Are you now who you thought you would be ten years ago? No, I’m better. I never thought I would achieve mental peace after being a victim of so much negativity and hard times. Advice: never give up. It gets better.
